I sit beside the fire and think of all that I have seen, of meadow-flowers and butterflies In summers that have been; Of yellow leaves and gossamer in autumns that there were, with morning mist and silver sun and wind upon my hair. I sit beside the fire and think of how the world will be when winter comes without a spring that I shall ever see. For still there are so many things that I have never seen: in every wood in every spring there is a different green. I sit beside the fire and think of people long ago, and people who will see a world that I shall never know. But all the while I sit and think of times there were before, I listen for returning feet and voices at the door.

Open Mic.

Alright, I'm having an issue here. My high school does a concert every year called Mayfest, and all of the performing art students get to do their recitals, dances, songs, etc. and it lasts all day. Well, this year me and a friend are planning to do the song from A Walk To Remember called 'Only Hope' for open mic, but I can't seem to find any place where I can download the sheet music for it. Does anybody have any suggestions?!

Beautiful Old People

Does anybody else just, like, adore old people?! My mom and I were watching a movie on tv today, and we saw a commercial for Oreo cookies, and it has this little boy smile, and he's missing his 2 front teeth; then it has his grandpa smile, and he's missing all of his teeth. I told my mom that I loved that commercial, and we started talking about old people. I know it sounds weird, but I think old people are just great. When you watch them, it's like they're all so calm and could really care less about what's coming next in life. And they're all adorable. Plus, they have so much that they could teach us. They've got so much experience, and they're so sweet! To me, they're the kind of people you'd want for best friends. When you talk, they really listen. In my utmost, humble opinon, I believe we should all try to act more like elderly people!

Outside My Window

Well, I'd like to start publishing some of my original poems on my blog weekly. So what better time to start than now? So I guess this post is the beginning of a new tradition!

Outside my window, there is noise. In here, it is quiet.
Outside my window, no one has joys. In here, every breath rejoices.
Outside my window, the leaves have fallen. In here, the flowers are in
bloom.
Outside my window, people rush. In here, there is no sense of time.
Outside my window, people rush. They run from place to place,
never looking; never seeing; never believing.
Trees, perfected with age, ever growing, wither.
Wind, that blew their cares away, stands still.
Sunlight, cascading down around them, does not refill.
Children's laughter dies. The sweet smell of the air turns sour.
This is outside my window. But in here, it is quiet

New Looks

Well, as you can see, I've changed my blog around a bit. I tried to incorporate nature and simplicity into it. Let me know what you think!

New Siggy

And here's a new siggy to go with my name!

I Have A New Name

Alright, well, for all of you who've been bugging me to blog, HERE IT IS!
As I'm sure you've read in the title, I now have a new name! Okay, so not exactly. You see, my first name is Brittany, but I find it utterly repulsive. (yeah, I know that's kind of strong, and I don't really feel that strongly about it, but in case you didn't get the hint, I don't like it!) I usually like very, um, different names. For example, I absolutely love the names Haddasah, Brooke, and Summer. You usually don't hear those names very much, but I love them. So for the past, like, 5 years, I've been trying to get my parents to let me change my name, but my dad wouldn't let me. His general reply was, "God put that name in my heart for you, and I don't see any reason why we should change God's mind." And not that I'm trying to change anybody's mind, but the name 'Brittany' is so... blah!
So we've come up with a new twist on the name. I'm going to go by 'Brittan'. You see? I didn't change anybody's mind, and it's the same name, minus the Y... and I love the name!
When I ws little, I wanted everyone to call me 'Sis'. Dunno why, but I did. And then as I got a bit older, I started using the name Brittany, but since I really didn't like it, I just went by Brit. I still didn't like it, but it was better than just Brittany. So once I heard this one, I was hooked!
If you know me any at all, you'd know that I'm fascinated by western-Europe (France, Europe, Wales, Ireland, etc.) So in that way, the name is a good representation of me, and I think it sounds pretty cool. So, anyway, the next time you see me, you can call me Brittan!
Oh, and it's pronounced like Britton.
I've also put in here a couple of songs that I just really like. They have nothing to do with my post, but I love the songs, so if you want to hear them, you can!
