I sit beside the fire and think of all that I have seen, of meadow-flowers and butterflies In summers that have been; Of yellow leaves and gossamer in autumns that there were, with morning mist and silver sun and wind upon my hair. I sit beside the fire and think of how the world will be when winter comes without a spring that I shall ever see. For still there are so many things that I have never seen: in every wood in every spring there is a different green. I sit beside the fire and think of people long ago, and people who will see a world that I shall never know. But all the while I sit and think of times there were before, I listen for returning feet and voices at the door.

5 truths... 1 lie

So since my mom did it on her blog, i think i rather like this one. So here's the rules: I'm going to give you five true statements, and 1 lie. You have to determine which one you think is a lie! Put your answers as a comment on this post. So! Here goes:
1) Once i did something my teacher didn't like, and she said, "I don't want you to do that again." and my response was, "well we don't always get what we want, now do we?"... and I was 3 years old!
2) I once held a *live* baby bunny all recess, just to find out later that it was DEAD!
3) I ran away from home one time when I was five, and the cops found me 2 miles away from home
4) Something of interest to me is earth/wildlife conservation: SO RECYCLE!!!!
5) I want David Cook to win American Idol
6) I once broke my tooth out by biting on a baton, just so the tooth faery would come to my house
Now you decide... which one is a lie?!

Adventures @ Subway... and not the transportation center

Ok, so this evening, my mom and i went shopping, and then went to visit my grandparents. On our way home (this is at 9:30 pm) we decided that we were going to grab something to eat, because we had skipped dinner. So, my mom decides to be EXTREMELY adventurous and go to Subway. Well, you have to know my mom on this one, because she rarely goes there. She's been there probably a total of 3 times in her life. Her motto is "why pay money for a lunch meat sandwich when you can just grab one at home?!" So, like I said, she's living on the edge here. So we get ready to place our order, and mom says, "I'd like a chicken and bacon wrap, please." The kid says that they're fresh out of bacon. My mom gives me this look as if to say 'this is the reason i never come here.' I tell her to take a few deep breaths, and so to make it easy (on herself, not the guy at the counter) she says she wants a wrap with ham. So, I get my stuff and we get out to the car, and she goes, "This is cold!!! If I wanted a cold sandwich, I could've gotten one at home!!!!!" So at this point, she's not happy. She thinks about turning into McDonalds, but she was kind of frustrated, so she decides to go on. Then once we get back closer to our house, there is another subway on our way, so she decides to stop there and ask them for something *warm*. We pull in, and they're closed! Needless to say, by this time, mom was pretty frustrated. She finally turns into a McDonalds, and she's been talking about their chicken ranch wrap, and so she's got me thinking that she's gonna get one, and still be livin' on the edge, and just as she's about to order her wrap, all life gets sucked out of her, and she orders a big mac. How original! I guess I'm still going to have to limit my Subway to the times when I'm at my nana's house :)

Not Much To Say Today

Well, I don't have much to say today. It's friday, and that's a good thing... i don't have school on monday either. I'm starting to get summer fever already, and it isn't even summer yet! I love being outside, especially when we're having warm weather, and the spring is no exception. I love to finally see the leaves on the trees, and the delicate flowers popping their heads up. Finally, the grass is green, and the wind makes me want to fly away with it. As i was thinking about all of this this evening, sitting outside and listening to everything around me, i started wondering: "What all does the wind hear?" I mean, I never thought about it before, but i'm sure the wind hears so many things.
The lady exercising, talking on her cell phone, chewing out a co-worker on the phone
The little girls swinging, trying to catch the leaves that always seem out of their reach, no matter
how high they get, and trying to determine who is getting the highest.
The boys playing basketball in the cul-de-sac, talking about the latest game
The young couple, talking about their plans for the future.
The old couple, talking of the years before, when they were young, and all the childish things he did to catch her attention, without knowing that he already had her attention without doing a thing.
And the young girl, sitting in the grass, watching the sky, and dreaming about where the wind is going, and what it gets to see and hear. Wishing aloud that she could drift with the wind.
So sometimes, even the littlest details can hear the most amazing things.

- FROM A 'GUEST BLOGGER' -

well, if brittan's not going to blog on here for all to read, then i as her mother will do it for her!
`
alright, what's she been up to you might be asking? - well, i'll tell you... at school, she's been getting in more trouble than you can shake a stick at & we don't know where this behavior's coming from either - we've tried training her right, but for some reason, it's not sticking - she's down at the principles office almost daily & has been expelled from school numerous times already this month - we truly don't know what we're going to do with her at this point
`
also, the grades are going downhill BIG time - she's solidly getting D's in every class except 2 & they're both F's - she was a good student & then all of a sudden... UGH
`
as far as helping around the house, she does NOTHING! - she sits around all the time, demanding to be waited on hand & foot & we're sick to death of it! - we're not going to take it any longer - she demands things from us (ie: "get me that!", "bring me some more of this", etc.) & we're wore out! - can't she see that we're all busy?
`
she's wanting everything handed to her on a silver platter & we can't do it - she's wanting all designer name brand clothing at outrageous prices & will settle for nothing less - i think i'm going to have to go get a job just to be able to purchase these things for her
`
we've got the little girls that soooo look up to brittan, but she's not being the example that we want for our girls - she yells, fights, hits, etc. & we're at our wits end with her
`
last but not least, this' all made up!!! - nope, she's not done any of the things listed above - she's doing fabulous in school, helps greatly around the house, doesn't hardly care about what she wears & is a great role model for not only our girls, but for anyone - i did this so you all out there would comment on this blog as i'm not telling her what i've done (blogging for her) & i want you to all 'give it to her' for not blogging on a regular basis
``
brittan, you better be blogging or i will for you (keep in mind i've got embarrassing pics of you i could add too... hehehe)
`
love ya girl!

High School Choir

Ok, so I have some really exciting news today!!! A week ago today I tried out for my high school's choir. Since our school is SO huge, we have 4 choirs. There is: Goldenaires, Milltones, New Dimensions, and Singers. To be quite frank, you don't want to be in Goldenaires or Milltones. Not that there's anything wrong with them necessarily, but Goldenaires is the lowest on the totem pole as far as choir rank goes, and milltones isn't much better. But then there is New Dimensions and Singers. They're both really good choirs that have won tons of competitions and awards. The only difference is that Singers is an integrated choir, and New Dimensions is an all-girl choir, and... I MADE NEW DIMENSIONS!!!!!!! I probably wouldn't have found out today, but since we're in the middle of selling our house, we had a surprise showing, and my dad picked me up from school. Since the doors that I go out of are right next to the performing arts hallway, I thought I'd go and look. I was really scared to find my name, because I really didn't want to find that the vocal teachers thought I should be in Goldenaires or Milltones. And it would've made me really :( But... I was really happy when I found out. Apparently when I came out of the school I had a big grin on my face, because once I told my dad and brother, my dad goes, "I guessed that there was something good that happened, judging from the grin on your face."
So, that's my good news for the day! Whats yours?!

*COME BACK SOON!!
