I sit beside the fire and think of all that I have seen, of meadow-flowers and butterflies In summers that have been; Of yellow leaves and gossamer in autumns that there were, with morning mist and silver sun and wind upon my hair. I sit beside the fire and think of how the world will be when winter comes without a spring that I shall ever see. For still there are so many things that I have never seen: in every wood in every spring there is a different green. I sit beside the fire and think of people long ago, and people who will see a world that I shall never know. But all the while I sit and think of times there were before, I listen for returning feet and voices at the door.

A New Week

Well, it's a new week, and already it seems to be going by fast. Yesterday my mom, dad, nana, and grandpa all went to Chicago for the day to get my grandparent's dossier stamped by the haitian consolate. They didn't come home until around 6 or 6:30, but when they did, everyone was really tired! I've only been with them once, but when I did, I was tired when I came back too, and they had Kiara and Karleigh with them! They said it was a bunch of fun, though, and they got the dossier done and it's already in the mail. Now all we can do is sit and pray that we get Madisyn home as quickly as possible.

Today my mom is doing the girls' hair, because we have a wedding to go to on Saturday in Ohio, so I've pretty much been helping her since I got home from school, but I'm LOVING the weather we're having! It's really warm with a little breeze. It doesn't feel anything like winter anymore, and thats just fine with me!

A few days ago I got another email from Madisyn, and I (obviously) replied. I was so excited to be able to email with her! It's been great being able to get to know her before she gets here. Licia has been receiving my emails and then translating them into Creole so that Madisyn can understand. Here's a pic of her now...

Poor Karleigh!

My day today, well, it was pretty good, but yesterday was kind of hectic, because Karleigh had to get stitches in her lip (that is her above) ... but let me go back to the beginning. My mom went with my Nana 2 days ago to do something at the Statehouse for her adoption, so when I came home from school at 3:00, I was by myself. Ruby then came home at 4:00, and I watched her until Mom came home. Mom pulled into the driveway at around 7 o'clock, but when I went out to help her with the other two girls, she was parked at the bottom of the driveway and was standing outside, leaning into the back seat. Well, at the time, I thought she was getting onto one of the girls, but I found out later that Kiara had told mom to stop the car really quickly (apparently she was just teasing), but when mom did, Karleigh had undone her seatbelt and smashed her mouth into the back of the seat in front of her. Needless to say, Mom freaked. There was blood everywhere, and mom said that she thought it had cracked one of Karleigh's teeth. So she dropped Kiara off with me and drove to the hospital. Her and dad didn't get back to the house until midnight, after Karleigh had gotten her stitches. She had to get two in her bottom lip. I felt so sorry for her, because when I got stitches in my finger, they had to give you a shot directly in the cut, and it hurt me, so I know it hurt her! So she had to get stitches, and the inside of her gums got really bruised, as did her chin. Blood got all over her seat and on her coat, but thankfully that all washed out. Pray that I don't fall on the ice tomorrow, because I'm going ice skating! I'm really excited, becaus I've only been once before, but it was so much fun... I loved being able to spin around on the ice. I can't wait!

Bridge To Terabithia

Well, we went to the movies last night to see Bridge to Terabithia, and it was soooooo good! You HAVE to go see it. It was so good that in the end, I cried! I won't give anything away, but everyone has to see it! On the other hand, I have finally signed up for 3 events for my l'Association des eleves de francais d'Indiana competition (my frenchy comptetition). I am going to recite a french poem, perform a skit in french with some friends, and then I'm going to take a french vocabulary test. I'm really looking forward to them all, but I can't wait to recite the poem, because I'm pretty good at memorizing poems, but I've never been challenged to perfrom one in French!
I think I'm going to submit a poem that I wrote for a literary magazine contest. I'm really not sure of the submission date, so I'm going to finish it as soon as possible, that way I won't miss the due date. I'm going to go ahead and type it here, and I welcome any proofing errors or suggestions in any way that I can make it better. Just to warn you, it's a little long, so I apolgoze! Well, here goes:
The wind smells like freedom. The air is my companion. It fills my lungs and refreshes my soul. The sun on my shoulders is less than a burden. It is a blessing... and one that I will gladly receive. Though I go without food, I have not hunger. Though I have no water to wet my lips, my mouth is not parched, because I can see peace on their faces, and Strength beyond compare. Though others may not see it, I know it is there. Their joy fills my being in a way that no food could ever replace. When I hear the children's laughter, it is music to my ears. When I see my sisters' smile, it is like a new light to a blind man, When I see them dancing, I feel as if I were dancing with them. For this ismy country. It can never be less. Wherever I go, it will never leave me. You have molded me, as a potter molds his clay. I came out of my country's earth. I am born of its land. I will never forget you, dear Coutry. No matter where I am, or what adventures I may seek, I will always think of you. For you have made me, Country. And one day my children, or my children's children, or maybe even I, shall remake you.
There it is. Like I said, I welcome any suggestions!

*COME BACK SOON!!
